Brand History

The first Bojangles restaurant was opened on July 6, 1977, in Charlotte, on West Boulevard by Richard Thomas and Jack Fulk. These two saw the opportunity to develop a quick-service restaurant chain having at its basis three attributes: a festive, fun restaurant design with friendly and fast service; high-quality, wholesome products made from scratch; and a distinctive flavor profile.

One year later, in 1978, the first franchise was opened. The winning chicken and biscuit combination led to the development of Bojangles. Between 1980 and 1990 the chain expanded throughout the United States of America.

In 1980, Tands, Inc. became part of the Bojangles team and has been committed to the same high standards that Jack Fulk and Richard Thomas set. This company is proud to serve the Richmond, VA, and Eastern North Carolina communities, and they plan to continue to do it for a long time in the future.

From 1980 until now Bojangles had multiple owners and the most recent is the private equity firm Falfurrias Partners and Advent International. The company filed for its first initial public offering of stock in 2015.

Even though the company has most of its restaurants in the South of the United States, it has locations in Ireland, Washington D.C., China, Honduras, Mexico, and Jamaica as well.

Nowadays, Bojangles has more than 760 restaurants in fourteen states.

Our review

Bojangles Combo PackYou may not be able to find Bojangles where you live because they have a limited number of locations. But if you have the chance to arrive in one of their restaurants you should try their Cajun fried chicken, the buttermilk biscuits, and even the sweet tea.

And, in case you want to get inspired by the Southern cuisine for your Thanksgiving dinner you should order a Bojangles-inspired turkey.

Menu items include the Cajun Filet Biscuit Combo, featuring a Cajun chicken filet on a made-from-scratch buttermilk biscuit, and the Southern Filet Sandwich with a seasoned chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, and mayo on a toasted bun. The Grilled Chicken Sandwich adds American cheese, hardwood-smoked bacon, and savory flavors to the mix.

For dinners, options like the 2 pc. Breast & Wing Dinner and 3 Wing Dinner showcase Bojangles’ perfectly seasoned chicken served with home-style fixings and buttermilk biscuits.

Breakfast offerings include the Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit, and the Sausage Biscuit, all served on their signature buttermilk biscuits.

Side dishes like creamy macaroni and cheese complement the meals, and the menu also features Bojangles’ legendary iced tea.

Online ordering is available, making it easy to enjoy their juicy chicken tenders, sandwiches with toasted buns, melted American cheese, and other popular items.

You wouldn’t expect a fast-food restaurant to use fresh, high-quality ingredients and prepare the food from scratch on order. But Bojangles prides itself on being one of those restaurants where the customers can enjoy fresh meals and a perfect taste. For instance, the biscuits are never frozen and are made fresh, in-house. Every 20 minutes a tray of fresh biscuits is put in the oven for baking.

Also, the chicken is never frozen at Bojangles. It is delivered in every location completely fresh and after that, the cooking is done on-site. The marination process takes 12 hours and maybe that is why it has the unmatched flavor.
