Brenda Gantt became a widow toward the end of 2018 when her husband, George Patton Gantt, to whom she was married for five decades, passed away at the age of 72.

George had a business degree from Livingston University and was a native of Andalusia, Alabama. He was also part of the US Marine Corps in his youth, being honorably discharged.

George worked in law enforcement as an Alabama Beverage Control Board officer after completing his term. After 25 years of serving, he eventually retired as the Chief and Director.
