Brand history

Corner Bakery Café was founded in 1991 by Lettuce Entertain You Enterprise, a Chicago-based restaurant group. The first location offered freshly baked desserts and baked artisan bread. The customers enjoyed these items and started to ask for more, so made-to-order specialties and sandwiches were added. After that followed salads and soups. The menu continued to be inspired by clients’ requests and as a result, the business grew.

Eventually, Corner Bakery Café was sold to Brinker International, which later sold the business to CBC Restaurant Corporation. Nowadays the café is owned by CBC Restaurant Corporation, which is an affiliate of Il Fornaio (America) Corporation, located in Dallas, Texas. The current Chief Executive Officer of the company is Frank Paci, who joined the business in 2015. He has more than 25 years of experience in the food service brand and retail industry. Also, the Chairman of the Board is Mike Hislop.

The café changed its logo and offered a new “look and feel” to its dining area, in 2004.

In November 2015 the company announced that the café would serve as the exclusive on-site dining store at Walmart Supercenter and Walmart locations.

In 2006 Corner Bakery Café started franchising and expanded over time.
