Brand history
The history of Davanni’s starts back in 1947 in New York. The original pizza restaurant was named Pontillo’s and was located in Batavia. However, the founders needed a name that they could trademark, so on October 1, 1975, appeared Davanni’s. By the end of the ‘70s, four locations were opened: Bloomington, St. Paul, Richfield, and Riverside Minneapolis.

The business continued to expand and by the end of the ‘80s, twelve locations there were opened. They added delivery to all restaurants in 1986, and offered it all day, every day. They had seventeen locations by the end of the ‘90s and their own bakery, Oven Hearth in St. Pau.
Throughout the year, Davanni’s included many items in its menu that are either requested frequently by its clients or created internally by its own employees. Some of the food items that stood the test of time include the handmade in-shop 15-layer Lasagna, the Garlic Cheese Bread, White Pizza, Turkey Bacon Chipotle Hoagie, Deep Dish Pizza, and Solo Pizza.
Currently, Davanni’s has more than one thousand employees and twenty-one locations throughout Minnesota, United States.
