Brand History
The first Dickey’s BBQ restaurant was opened in 1941 by Travis Dickey in Dallas, Texas. The founder was inspired to open this restaurant by his love for authentic slow-smoked barbecue.
In the beginning, this was just a family business, with Miss Ollie Dickey serving sandwiches and Mister Travis working at the block. The menu included just a few items such as put hams, potato chips, beef brisket, barbecue beans, bottled milk, sodas, and beer.

In 1967 brothers T.D. and Roland Dickey took over the business and continued their father’s legacy of good quality, hickory-smoked signature meats. Dickey’s BBQ restaurants expanded all over the Dallas Fort Worth area under the Dickey brother’s management.
When barbecue lovers and loyal customers asked for more locations, in 1994 Dickey’s BBQ started franchising.
Dickey’s BBQ became an international brand in 2018 when they opened the first Dickey’s BBQ Pit in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Nowadays, there are more than 550 Dickey’s BBQ restaurants in 44 states from America and another seven countries around the world, including Singapore, Brazil, and Japan.
Our review
The atmosphere from Dickey’s BBQ is what would you expect from a fast-casual restaurant such as waiting in a line for ordering, food brought to your table, and hard seating surfaces.
The Dickey’s BBQ menu is characterized by a few items such as St. Louis style ribs, marinated chicken, beef brisket, polish sausages, smoked turkey, spicy cheddar sausages, pulled pork, plus a large variety of homestyle sides from macaroni and cheese to jalapeno beans.
The menu prices are reasonable and the portions are enough to quickly satisfy your craving for BBQ. As long as you get their best sellers the meats will be juicy and tender.
If you would like to eat at Dickey’s BBQ restaurant, we would recommend that you try their Beef Brisket Classic Sandwich, the brisket, and the ribs. Also, you would love their baked potato salad and the barbecue ribs.
Every meal will be served with buttery rolls and will come with complimentary ice cream. Moreover, on Sunday children can eat for free.
In general, you will get your order pretty fast, but at certain times the lines can be quite long. You can expect to be greeted by a friendly and hospitable staff.
