Brand History

Dick’s Last Resort was founded in 1985 by Dick Chase. The first “fine dining” restaurant was opened in Dallas, Texas. The business turned out to be a complete failure and resulted in bankruptcy, but Dick was not discouraged and decided to change the “fine-dining” to “sloppy”. This decision was the best possible as the restaurant become very successful and soon more locations were opened.

This company tried to expand to Europe and in 1995 opened a location in London. Unfortunately, this project was abandoned and in 1996 the restaurant was sold.

Nowadays, the Dick’s Last Resort chain is owned by the large entertainment and restaurant conglomerate company, Déjà Vu.

The atmosphere at Dick’s Last Resort is “hillbilly”, from the colorful language on its official website to the less-than-perfect grammar on their menu. This is the perfect place for people who love to have a good time and drink. Customers are attracted by the down-to-earth, redneck vibe this eatery gives off.

Dick’s Last Resort is unique and different due to its obnoxious staff. The clients are expected to be placed in uncomfortable situations or to be insulted. Diners are given hand-made, large paper hats with insults written on them and adult bibs while they are eating. Also, on the tables are no napkins, but these are thrown at the clients by the servers.

All of the Dick’s Last Resort restaurants are open seven days a week and every day serve a full menu. You can choose between several food items, but people have noticed that they don’t have a kid’s menu readily available.

One of the restaurant’s most popular food items is the Shrimp-a-palooza, which consists of a squash medley and shrimp prepared in two different ways. Also, there is a seafood platter that includes fries, beer battered cod, and scallops.

As for the prices, be prepared to pay anywhere between $8 and $20 for one of their Finger Food items such as Onion Strips, Mumbo Jumbo Chicky Wings, Drunked Shrimp Cocktail, Coconuty Shrimps, or Chicky Tenders. The Cheezy Burger costs around $9 and the Fry’d Shrimpies cost almost $17. The beverage menu includes Strawberry Daiquiri, Mud Slide, Kahlua Colada, Sauza Gold Margarita, and Stoli Electric Lemonade, to name a few.
