The story of Berto’s restaurants starts back in 1964, in San Diego with Roberto “Berto” Robledo and his wife who opened up Roberto’s Taco Shop. This had an extensive menu, a great number of local clients, and a red and yellow sign. This new restaurant became very popular, which determined the appearance of several imitators such as Aliberto’s, Eriberto’s, and others.

Some years later, more precisely in 1988, the Tenario Family took the decision to start their own version of the 24-hour Mexican restaurant in San Diego. It was named “Filiberto’s”, after one of the family’s brothers. They kept what worked over the year: the name, the yellow and red sign, and the large variety of options on the menu.
In 1993 Filiberto’s business expanded to Arizona, opening the first location in Mesa. And so began their tradition in the Valley. Currently, there are 93 Filiberto’s units in the United States, in three states including California, New Mexico, and Arizona. The state with the greatest number of Filiberto’s restaurants in Arizona, with 86 locations. The business is still operated by many of the Tenario family and the company’s headquarters are in Phoenix.
Filiberto’s restaurants welcome their clients in a casual, family-friendly ambiance. They don’t offer outdoor seating options or free WiFi connection, but they have a TV so you don’t get bored while you are waiting for your food.
Your best choice is Carne Asada if you are a tacos or burritos fan. Also, the chicken and beef burritos are very tasty. But your dining experience will be complete only after you serve also Mexican juice.
You should plan on spending anywhere between $5.50 and $14 for a burrito such as Bean & Cheese Burrito, Fish Burrito, Chicken Burrito, Carnitas Burrito, Green Chile Burrito, Shrimp Burrito, El Gordo Burrito, Veggie Burrito, Beef Burrito, Carne Asada Burrito, and others. Breakfast burritos are priced from $9 to $15 and include options such as Chorizo Burritos, Steak & Egg Burritos, Country Burritos, Steak Ranchero Plates, Spanish Omelette Plates, Huevo Rancheros, Machaca Burritos, and many more.
Expect to pay $4.50 to $6.50 for a taco. Some of the taco options include fish, carnitas, Adobada, shrimp, Lengua, beef, and Carne Asada. Tortas costs anywhere between $7.50 and $11 and come in the following varieties: fish, chicken, Adobada, machaca, ham, chorizo, Carne Asada, and carnitas. Tostadas are priced from $7 to $9 and are served in three ways: chicken, Carne Asada, and carnitas. Also, their bowls are of three types, including the chicken bowl, the Adobada bowl, and the Carne Asada bowl, and cost anywhere between $11 and $13.
Filiberto’s also offers kid’s meals such as Jr Bean & Cheese, chicken nuggets, and Jr. quesadillas, which cost around $6.50 each.
