First Watch is an American restaurant chain specialized in serving breakfast every day. The name of this restaurant is a nautical reference to the first work shift aboard a ship because the operating hours of First Watch restaurants are from 07:00 a.m. to 02:30 p.m.

Brand history

First Watch was founded by John Sullivan and Ken Pendery in 1983 after they left the breakfast chain Le Peep from Colorado. The first restaurant was located in Pacific Grove, California.

In 1986 the headquarters of the company were moved to Bradenton, Florida.

The First Watch purchased The Good Egg restaurant chain in 2014 and in 2021 transformed 18 of these restaurants into First Watch restaurants.

Also, in 2015 First Watch bought the Egg & I Restaurant chain, but only 22 of these were transformed into First Watch restaurants until 2016.

With more than 470 locations, nowadays First Watch has a large presence in Arizona, Florida, Colorado, Texas, and Ohio. Both, Egg & I and First Watch restaurants serve a wide variety of food items for breakfast, lunch, and brunch.

Our review

First Watch is famous for serving healthy, fresh, and high-quality food which is made to order and never pre-cooked. Also, upon arrival, clients will enjoy a whole pot of coffee. Some of the most liked dishes from First Watch are the Chickichanga, the Floridian French Toast, and the Elevated Egg Sandwich.

You should be prepared to pay around $12 for the classic favorites The Traditional and the Tri-Fecta, while the healthier sides are priced at $10 to $14. Some of these include the Healthy Turkey, the Sunrise Granola Bowl, the Power Wrap, the Avocado Toast, and the Steel-Cut Oatmeal.

The egg-sclusives cost around $12 each and include Eggs Benedict, Eggs Benedict Florentine, Skillet Hash Parma, Farm Stand Breakfast Tacos, Biscuits and Turkey Sausages Gravy with Eggs, and the Elevated Egg Sandwich, to name a few.

Expect to pay anywhere between $12 and $15 for omelets and frittatas such as Bacado, Smoked Salmon and Roasted Vegetable Frittata, Ham & Gruyere, Frittata Rustica, Chile Chorizo, Inspired Italian and Morning Market Veg.

Pancakes, waffles, and French toast cost anywhere between $6 and $13. You will be able to choose between plain pancakes, blueberry pancakes, lemon ricotta pancakes, carrot cake, pecan pancakes, Belgian waffles, Floridian French toast, chocolate chip pancakes, and many more.

A power bowl such as Pesto Chicken Quinoa Bowl and Power Breakfast Quinoa Bowl costs around $12.5, while the sides and small plates cost anywhere between $3 and $5.5. Also, a salad is priced at almost $12.5 and for a sandwich, you will have to get around $13 out of your pocket.

As for the drinks you can choose between Kale Tonic, Project Sunrise Coffee, orange juice, cold brew coffee, low-fat milk, iced coffee, hot chocolate, Coca-Cola soft drinks, herbal teas, fresh-brewed iced teas, grapefruit juice, tomato juice, cranberry juice or apple juice. Their price may vary from one location to another.
