How Much Does Tread Athletics Cost?

Updated on September 25, 2026 | Written by Alec Pow
This article was researched using 8 sources. See our methodology and corrections policy.

Tread Athletics appears to cost about $7,500 for a 12-month remote coaching program including the initial assessment, based on the freshest publicly reported quote we found, posted in June 2026. That works out to roughly $625 per month. Tread does not publish a fixed price list, however, and says pricing varies by athlete and training setup, so your actual quote may be different.

What Tread does publish is the structure: athletes make a 12-month commitment, pay a one-time assessment fee, and then pay either annually or through monthly installments. Remote coaching includes individualized pitching, strength, mobility and other programming, while visits to Tread’s Charlotte-area training facility cost extra.

  • The freshest public 2026 quote we found was $7,500 (at $30 per hour, earning that amount would take about 6.3 full-time workweeks, before taxes) for 12 months including the assessment.
  • That equals approximately $625 per month when spread across the year.
  • Tread does not publish one official price; athletes must request a personalized quote.
  • The standard coaching arrangement is a 12-month, 365-day commitment.
  • In-person training at Tread HQ costs extra and is available to active remote athletes.
  • Tread recommends access to a gym, mound, weighted balls, bands and a radar gun, but says programming can be adapted to available equipment.
  • A recommended Pocket Radar alone currently costs about $400, so equipment can meaningfully increase the first-year budget.
  • The current athlete agreement does not support the previously reported 40% cancellation penalty.

How Much Does Tread Athletics Cost?

The best current public number is about $7,500 (about 6.3 full-time workweeks at $30 per hour) for one year. In June 2026, a parent on High School Baseball Web reported receiving a $7,500 quote covering 12 months and the assessment.

This is a customer-reported quote, not an official Tread price sheet. Tread’s own pricing FAQ says rates depend on several factors and instructs prospective athletes to contact the company for an exact number. Tread confirms a one-time assessment fee plus a 12-month coaching commitment that can be paid annually or in installments.

Cost Best available figure Confidence
12-month Tread program About $7,500 Recent June 2026 customer quote
Monthly equivalent About $625 Calculated from $7,500 ÷ 12
Initial assessment Included in the reported $7,500 quote Tread confirms a fee exists but does not publish the amount
In-house training Extra Tread confirms separate pricing but does not publish the rate
Recommended training equipment $0 to $500+ Depends heavily on what the athlete already owns or can access
Travel to Tread HQ Variable Airfare, hotel, meals and ground transport are separate

The $7,500 figure is also much higher than the pricing reported several years ago, which is why older articles quoting $350 per month should no longer be treated as a reliable current estimate.

Tread Costs in Previous Years

Older community reports help show how pricing has changed, but they should not be mistaken for today’s rate.

In 2021, baseball parents discussing Tread reported approximately $350 (about 1.5 full-time workdays at $30 per hour) or more per month for comprehensive remote coaching. By 2023, one parent said the family was paying more than $500 per month under a one-year arrangement, while another mentioned an older contract totaling roughly $4,000. Those reports appear in a long-running Tread Athletics discussion among baseball parents.

A more recent 2025 Reddit account described standard remote coaching at roughly $400 per month, with a discounted $250 monthly rate allegedly offered after completing an in-person camp. That athlete-parent report is useful context, but it represents one customer’s arrangement rather than a published company rate.

Period Reported price What it tells us
2021 $350+/month Historical comprehensive remote pricing
2023 $500+/month Parent report for a one-year program
2025 $400/month reported Individual Reddit account, not official pricing
June 2026 $7,500/year including assessment Freshest public quote found

Because the packages and athletes differ, these figures should not be read as a clean Tread price-history chart. They do show why the old $350-per-month headline is no longer strong enough for someone budgeting in 2026.

What Do You Get for the Money?

Tread’s current service agreement is unusually detailed about what an athlete is supposed to receive.

The company’s athlete service agreement describes a 365-day training period with an assigned Performance Coach. Programming can cover movement, pitching mechanics, throwing, strength and conditioning, mobility and nutrition.

The agreement also establishes service targets. Tread says athletes should receive regular coach contact, programming updates and video analysis. Formal video reviews occur at least monthly and can be as frequent as weekly, while scheduled audio or video calls are also provided periodically depending on the athlete’s needs.

The program is therefore better understood as year-round remote player development rather than a bundle of pitching lessons purchased one hour at a time.

Initial Assessment

Tread says the assessment looks at the athlete’s movement and pitching mechanics along with measures related to strength, speed, power and mobility. The information becomes the starting point for individualized programming.

The company no longer posts a standalone assessment price on its public site. The June 2026 customer report says the assessment was already included in the $7,500 annual quote.

That is more useful for budgeting than adding an unsupported $150–$500 assessment fee to the total, as older versions of this article did.

Equipment and Training Access

The biggest hidden cost is not necessarily a mysterious Tread fee. It is having the environment needed to complete remote training.

Tread says athletes should generally have access to a gym with basic free weights, somewhere to throw and a pitcher’s mound. Its training-equipment recommendations also include weighted or plyo balls, resistance bands and access to a radar gun.

Importantly, the company says coaches can adapt programming around the equipment an athlete already has. That means a $400 equipment purchase is not mandatory for every customer.

For someone starting from nothing, however, the additions can become significant. Tread recommends the Pocket Radar Smart Coach for remote athletes, and the manufacturer currently lists the Smart Coach Radar at $399.99. Tread also recommends MARV weighted balls, whose six-ball velocity set costs about $60.

Those two products alone total about $460. Add gym access, a throwing facility or mound rental if the athlete does not already have them, and the practical first-year cost can move beyond the coaching quote.

How Much Do Visits to Tread HQ Cost?

Tread allows remote athletes to book in-person visits at its facility in Pineville, North Carolina, near Charlotte. These visits cost extra.

The company does not currently publish the dollar amount. Its official materials say options can range from a one-day visit to much longer periods, depending on the athlete and availability.

Tread’s athlete agreement also states that in-house fees are in addition to remote training fees and that reserved in-house training fees are non-refundable because space is limited.

Older forum posts mentioned figures around $500 for a training week, but those numbers are several years old and should not be presented as 2026 pricing.

The bigger budget can also include:

  • airfare or fuel to the Charlotte area;
  • hotel or short-term accommodation;
  • rental car or local transportation;
  • meals;
  • additional training equipment.

A family considering hybrid training should ask Tread for the full facility fee and expected visit schedule before committing to the remote plan.

Cancellation Fees

The old claim that Tread automatically charges 40% of the remaining contract balance is not supported by the current public agreement and should be removed.

What the current agreement does make clear is that the program is a year-long commitment. An athlete can stop participating, but withdrawal does not automatically eliminate monetary obligations already incurred under the service agreement.

The public refund section specifically tells athletes with a career-ending injury to contact Tread Support. It also says ordinary illness does not stop scheduled billing, although limited access extensions may be available.

This makes the contract terms worth reading closely before enrollment. The price is not equivalent to paying $625 for one month and deciding later whether to purchase the next month. Monthly payments are installments toward a year-long service arrangement.

How Much Does a Full First Year Cost?

Using the newest public quote, the starting calculation is simple:

First-year item Example cost
12-month coaching + assessment $7,500
MARV weighted balls About $60
Pocket Radar Smart Coach About $400
Gym/mound access $0+ depending on existing facilities
In-person Tread visits Quote required
Travel and lodging Variable

An athlete who already has training equipment and facility access may stay close to the quoted $7,500. Someone buying a recommended radar and weighted balls is already near $7,960 before any gym fees or trips to North Carolina.

At a working value of $30 per hour, the $7,500 coaching bill equals 250 hours of earnings, or a little over 31 eight-hour workdays. A roughly $8,000 first-year setup equals about 267 hours.

Tread vs Driveline

Tread Athletics

Direct comparisons are imperfect because baseball-development companies package services differently, but public pricing provides useful context.

Driveline’s help center currently lists its online pitching program at $299 per month. That equals about $3,588 across 12 months if paid at the same rate for a full year, although assessment requirements and service structure differ from Tread.

Against the reported $7,500 Tread quote, that creates a gap of approximately $3,912 per year.

That difference does not establish which program is better. It tells families what they need to investigate: coaching frequency, assessment depth, programming scope, communication access, in-person opportunities and whether the athlete will actually use all of those services.

Is Tread Athletics Worth $7,500?

The answer depends heavily on the athlete rather than simply the price.

Tread’s model requires remote athletes to communicate, upload material, follow programming independently and stay engaged over an entire year. The company itself says the format requires motivated athletes and generally works with high-school, college and professional players.

A pitcher who wants a comprehensive year-round system and regularly uses the assigned coach may get substantially more from the arrangement than an athlete looking only for an occasional mechanical lesson.

Likewise, an athlete who needs constant hands-on supervision may prefer local in-person coaching even when the hourly math appears less sophisticated.

One thing should not be included in the calculation: a guaranteed scholarship, draft selection or professional contract. Tread’s own agreement says athletic success is not guaranteed. Claims that a $7,500 training bill routinely produces a five-figure scholarship are therefore inappropriate as financial justification.

Questions to Ask Before Paying

Because Tread uses individualized quotes instead of a public price list, get the financial details in writing before enrolling:

  • What is the total cost for the full 365-day term?
  • How much of that total is the assessment?
  • Is there any discount for paying the entire year upfront?
  • What exactly happens financially if the athlete is injured?
  • What happens if the athlete decides to stop training?
  • What does an in-house day or week cost?
  • How many in-person visits are recommended?
  • Which equipment must the athlete buy versus merely have access to?
  • How often will the athlete speak directly with the assigned coach?
  • Are there any fees not shown in the initial quote?

That is especially important because an apparently simple monthly installment can represent a much larger annual commitment.

Answers to Common Questions

How much is Tread Athletics per month?

Tread does not publish a standard monthly fee. The freshest public 2026 quote we found was $7,500 for 12 months including the assessment, which works out to approximately $625 per month.

Does Tread Athletics require a 12-month contract?

Yes. Tread’s current materials describe its remote coaching as a 12-month or 365-day commitment.

Is the assessment included?

Tread officially says there is a one-time assessment fee. The June 2026 customer who reported a $7,500 annual quote said the assessment was included in that total.

Can you pay Tread monthly?

Yes. Tread says athletes can pay annually or through monthly installments. Monthly billing does not mean the service is month-to-month; the underlying commitment remains one year.

Does Tread charge extra for training in Charlotte?

Yes. In-house training costs extra on top of remote coaching. Tread does not publicly post those prices, so athletes need a separate quote.
