Brand History

The history of Hwy 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries starts back in 1991 with Kenney Moore and $500. He opened his first restaurant in a mall in the small-town Goldsboro, North Carolina, under the name of Andy’s Cheesesteaks & Cheeseburgers. At that time, he could not afford a traditional restaurant kitchen and he was forced to cook every single burger by himself every day in front of the customers, in an open kitchen.

Something that at first seems to be a disadvantage turned out to be a great advantage for Moore’s business. When you are preparing the food on an open grill, you are able to greet every customer who walks in. You can have conversations with the clients who sit at the counter, waiting for their orders. Also, the guests can see how much care and attention you put into preparing their fresh meals.
