Brand History
Maggiano’s Little Italy was founded in 1991 by Rich Melman’s Lettuce Entertain You Enterprise (LEYE). The first location was opened on November 11 in Chicago’s River North neighborhood, at Grand Avenue and Clark Street. The aim of this business was to recreate “the classic pre-World War II dinner house featuring family size portions”. The restaurant had a huge success since its opening, which led to the opening of a second location in Oak Brook, Illinois.

A third location was opened two years later in Skokie, Illinois. Though not long after this, the company took the decision to branch out outside Illinois in 1994, so a fourth restaurant was opened in McLean, Virginia at Tyson’s Corner Galleria II. This new location was very successful and was proof that the business can be expanded at a national level. This is what made Brinker International, Inc. purchase Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, Inc. in 1995.
Since then, the new owner has expanded the business all over the country and opened new restaurants in states such as Arizona, the District of Columbia, California, Wisconsin, Colorado, Washington, Florida, Virginia, Georgia, Texas, Illinois, Tennessee, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Missouri, New Jersey, and Nevada. There are more than 50 Maggiano’s Little Italy locations.
