Mi Cocina was founded in 1991, in Dallas by the Tex-Mex veteran Michael “Mico” Rodriguez, Dick Washburne, Bob McNutt, and Ray Washburne. Their first restaurant was located in the Preston Forest neighborhood of Dallas, Texas, and had only twelve tables. They focused on using only the highest-quality, finest ingredients and offering friendly, professional, and warm service, transforming Mi Cucina into a unique upscale Tex-Mex restaurant.
This proved to be the key to success as soon dinners were lining up at the doors of the restaurant and it became known in the neighborhood. Just two years later, in 1993, a second location was opened in the Highland Park Village, Dallas, due to the fact that the number of loyal clients increased.
Currently, Mi Cocina is owned by the privately held company M Crowd Restaurant Group and has locations in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, with plans to open more restaurants all over the United States of America.
