Mi Cocina was founded in 1991, in Dallas by the Tex-Mex veteran Michael “Mico” Rodriguez, Dick Washburne, Bob McNutt, and Ray Washburne. Their first restaurant was located in the Preston Forest neighborhood of Dallas, Texas, and had only twelve tables. They focused on using only the highest-quality, finest ingredients and offering friendly, professional, and warm service, transforming Mi Cucina into a unique upscale Tex-Mex restaurant.
This proved to be the key to success as soon dinners were lining up at the doors of the restaurant and it became known in the neighborhood. Just two years later, in 1993, a second location was opened in the Highland Park Village, Dallas, due to the fact that the number of loyal clients increased.
Currently, Mi Cocina is owned by the privately held company M Crowd Restaurant Group and has locations in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, with plans to open more restaurants all over the United States of America.
One of the greatest values of Mi Cocina is family and they highlight this value by striving to offer excellent service. This restaurant can accommodate large groups even though it is moderately sized.
Their menu includes authentic Mexican dishes such as quesadillas, nachos, guacamole, tortillas, tacos, fajitas and enchiladas. As you can see there are several options you can choose from, but probably the most popular among clients is the Chimichangas.
Plan on spending $8 to $19 for an aperitivo or ensalada such as Quesadillas with Fajitas, Salsa Chacho, Nachos al Carbon, Guacamole Mexicano, House Salad, Sopa de Tortilla, Chile con Queso, Flautitas de Pollo, Queso Chorizo and others.
Mico’s specials are priced from $16 to $25 and include items such as Enchiladas De Pollo Con Mole, Carne Asada, Tacos Habana, and Tacos Al Carbon. For fajitas, you will have to pay $17 to $31, and you will be able to choose between Ernies Chicken, Lucy Changa, Mamas Chicken Con Hongos, Mamas Chicken, Sunset Style – Ribeye, to name a few.
All The Moderns dishes cost anywhere between $15 and $21, are served with arroz blanco and Latin stir-fry vegetables, and include items like Camarones Chili Ajo, Enchiladas Modern, Asado de Pollo, and others.
For a side sauce such as Chile de Arbol, Molcajete, Butch’s Sauce, Serrano Linon, Sunset Sauce, Pica Pica, Chile Con Queso, or Salsa Ranchero, you will have to pay around $2.
The Mi Cocina menu also includes a Kids’ Meals section with items like Kids’ Burrito, Kids’ Taco, Kids’ Quesadilla, Kids’ Enchiladas, and Kids’ Fajitas. Each of these costs anywhere between $8.50 and $13.
The atmosphere continues to be like in the very first restaurant, familial and friendly, making Mi Cocina a warm spot to dine out with the entire family or friends.
