Brand History
Penn Station restaurant was founded by Jeff Osterfeld in 1985 in Cincinnati, Ohio. In the beginning, Penn Station’s menu included only four sandwiches, but the grilled cheese steak sub was the star. Hand-squeezed lemonade and fresh-cut French fries were also served. The meals were prepared to order, right in front of the clients, with the freshest ingredients and the finest meats. This business concept of preparing fresh food to order became a hit immediately.
As a result, by 1987 several Penn Station locations were opened across the country. The founder of the company felt that his idea of a high-end, fast dining experience which focuses on quality and freshness will be a real success. So, he took the decision to franchise his business in 1988. Nowadays, there are more than 300 Penn Station restaurants located in 15 states in America.
Our review
Penn Station’s sub sandwiches are very appreciated by the customers as these are prepared with the freshest, finest ingredients, like cholesterol-free peanut oil and hand-selected potatoes. The bread is freshly baked every day and it is toasted and crispy on the inside, with a soft crumb. Also, the lemonade is made every day by hand-squeezing with the freshest lemons.
The Penn Station restaurant is different from other sub sandwich restaurants in the fact that it offers five different sizes of subs, such as 4-inch, 6-inch, 8-inch, 10-inch, and 12-inch. Also, the menu of this restaurant is much more limited compared to the menu of other restaurants.
Not only do the sandwiches come in different sizes, but also the French fries. Plus, you can purchase packaged chips. Malt vinegar is also offered, as a free condiment for the fries. This gives them a better taste.
If you are going to Penn Station, you should definitely try their Philadelphia Cheesesteak sandwich, which is made with provolone cheese and steak. It is served along with your choice of pizza sauce, sautéed onions, mayo, mushrooms, spicy mustard, or banana peppers. In case you love chicken, you should try their Chicken Parmesan sandwich, which contains Parmesan and provolone cheese and juicy chicken breast.
The Penn Station restaurant is the perfect place for clients who are looking for a quick, good meal at a good cost. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed and casual. The restaurants are always clean and the seating is comfortable and spacious. Overall, this eatery is an A class.
