Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen or simply Popeyes is a fast-food restaurant chain, with origins in Louisiana, which sells mainly fried chicken. Brand History

The history of Popeyes dates back to 1972 when the first restaurant was opened in New Orleans suburb Arbai by Alvin Copeland. In the beginning, this restaurant was named “Chicken on the Run”. Alvin Copeland changed it to “Popeyes” being inspired by the French show “Connection”. Also, with this change, he made some changes in the menu as well and specialized in the New Orleans style spicy chicken.

Popeyes was bought by America’s Favorite Chicken company in 1992. This new owner developed the business as never before. More locations were opened and more items were introduced to the menu.

The company developed in such a quick way that the number of locations doubled in ten years. The 500^th location was opened in 1985 and in 1999 was opened the 1000^th location.

Nowadays there are more than 3,000 locations all over the world.

Our review

In 2010 Popeyes won a competition against Kentucky Fried Chicken where the tastes of the Popeyes Bonafide Chicken and the Kentucky Original Fried Chicken recipe were evaluated. This win was a recognition of their best chicken in town.

This restaurant became so popular that there was a case when the wait time was around three hours. Though this was only a one-time incident and now they are known for the fast service and the friendly staff.

The Popeyes menu prices are anywhere between $4 and $40, and anything from sandwiches and chicken platters to seafood is included. One of the customers’ favorites is the “Spicy Garlic Butterfly Shrimp Platter” which costs around $10. Some other items frequently ordered are the signature sides like Coleslaw, the popcorn shrimp, and the chicken tenders.
