Brand history

William R. Larson was the one who opened the first Round Table Pizza restaurant on December 21, 1959. It was located at 1235 El Camino Real, Menlo Park, California. The name of the restaurant was inspired by the round redwood tables William and his father made.

A few years later the original location was moved to 1255 El Camino Real, where it still stands to this day and is owned and run by William’s son, Bob Larson.

Round Table Pizza became very popular among both clients and entrepreneurs thanks to the recipe and crust developed by William. For instance, by the year 1978, there were opened 225 units. However, in 2011 Round Table Pizza filed for protection under Chapter 11 with the United States bankruptcy court and came out of bankruptcy the same year.

In 2014 this company agreed on opening 35 units in Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and Saudi Arabia. By the year 2016, there were opened more than 450 company-owned and franchised locations in Washington, Alaska, Oregon, Arizona, Nevada, California, and Hawaii.

In 2017 Round Table Pizza was bought by the Global Franchise Group and in the same year they closed all of their seven units in Dubai.

On its 60^th anniversary, in 2019, Round Table Pizza rebranded with a new motto “Pizza Royalty” and a new logo. Also, they expanded to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, with new stores close to the Southern Methodist University campus in University Park and in Frisco.

In 2022 Round Pizza Table chain was sold to FAT Brands, which also owns Johnny Rockets and Fatburger.

Currently, the company operates under two formats: traditional Round Table Pizza restaurants where they serve mainly pizza, drinks, and salads; and the Round Table Pizza Clubhouse – Pizza Pub Play. Here you can find large-screen TVs with sports programming, an extended menu, a craft beer selection, and arcade games for children.

Round Table Pizza restaurants are very welcoming and clean. They offer various seating options, from fixed booth seating for small dining groups to large tables for many people.

The heritage pizza recipes have been kept for years and they still use the highest quality dough, cheese, sauce, and toppings. Also, the restaurant provides a full salad bar and a wine and beer selection.

You should definitely try their zesty RT red sauce, otherwise, the pizza will be incomplete. Also, the garlic parmesan twists and the chicken wings are very appreciated by the clients. Not to mention their all-you-can-eat lunch buffet which is one of the client’s favorites.
