Brand History

Smashburger company was founded in 2007, in Denver, Colorado by Rick Schaden and Tom Ryan in partnership with Consumer Capital Partners. Americans always loved burgers and this food was among their favorite choices, but over time the burger’s reputation has worsened and they have become a greasy, unhealthy, and lazy choice.

But Schaden and Ryan wanted to change this bad image about burgers and came up with a new smashing technique used to create burgers from 100% Angus beef. At the basis of this technique is the “Millard Reaction”, which means pressing down the meat while it is being cooked in order to create an entirely different dimension of taste. All of their food items are prepared to order with an accent on local produce, so you can be sure that only high-quality, fresh, and natural ingredients are used.

Smashburger had a great evolution over time and in fifteen years it expanded in many states from America and six other countriesȘ Canada, the United Kingdom, Costa Rica, Saudi Arabia, El Salvador, and Panama. They opened their first drive-through in Houston, Texas at the end of 2015. Forbes magazine named this restaurant “America’s Most Promising Company”.

Schaden and Ryan have succeeded to create a very different burger from the one you can find in other similar restaurants by focusing on high-quality ingredients. Moreover, there is everything for everyone with an expanded menu that includes desserts, sides, sandwiches, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Our review

Smashburger is well-known among customers for being impeccably clean, with professional and helpful staff. This is a fast-casual restaurant where you will place your order at the counter and then, the food is brought to your table by a waiter.

Smashburger Angus BurgerThis restaurant differentiates from its competitors by focusing on offering dishes made from all-natural ingredients. For instance, the burgers are prepared with 100% Angus beef that has been pasture-fed. There is a large variety of burger options you can choose from such as Truffle Mushroom Swiss, Avocado Club, and Bacon Cheeseburger. Also, Smashburger is unique through the fact that each of its restaurants has on its menu a burger named after the city or location it is present in. For instance, the restaurant in Denver has a burger named “Colorado Burger”. These burgers are available in two sizes: ½-pound and 1/3-pound.

Besides the burgers, at each of their locations, you will be able to choose from a wide variety of sides like veggie frites, French fries, smash fries, and buffalo fries. Plus, you can find many options of alcoholic drinks and shakes.

If you are going to Smashburger for the first time, you should try their famous Buffalo and Blue Cheese Burger served along with some Haystack Onions. And the prices charged by this restaurant are reasonable and affordable, even though they use high-quality ingredients. Be prepared to spend anywhere between $5 and $6 for a side dish, while for a sandwich, salad, or burger you will have to pay $7 to $11.
