Steak ‘n Shake is an American dinner-style fast food restaurant chain with locations throughout the Southern, Mid-Atlantic, and Western areas of the United States, but also in the Middle East and Europe. Surprisingly, this restaurant does not sell steaks, but it is specialized in snacks. Its menu includes mainly beverages, hand-dipped milkshakes, hamburgers, and side dishes. People are coming to Steak n’ Shake for their famous “Steakburger”, which is made from round steaks, sirloin, and T-bone.
The majority of the Steak n’ Shake locations are open 24 hours and offer both sit-down and drive-through services. As a result, the prices charged by Steak n’ Shake are, in general, more expensive than those charged by other fast-food restaurants. But you can get a better idea about it by looking at the table below where you can find the latest Steak n’ Shake menu prices.

The Steak n’ Shake restaurant chain was founded by Gus Belt together with his wife, in 1934, in Normal, Illinois. They already owned a chicken restaurant (Shell’s Chicken) and a gas station, which they converted into a hamburger stand.
This new business concept was very successful and this determined Gus to buy the “Goal Post” restaurant chain from central Illinois and transform it into Steak n’ Shake restaurants. At this point, he also added curb service.
After the death of Gus, in 1954, the Steak n’ Shake restaurant continued to expand all over Illinois, passing through many owners, including Gus’s wife Edith (until 1969), Longchamps, Inc., the Indianapolis-based Franklin Corporation, E. W. Kelley and Associates, and the entrepreneur Sardar Biglari.
The first Steak n’ Shake international location was opened in 2013, in Monte Carlo, Monaco. The same year new locations were also opened in Dubai and Saudi Arabia.
Nowadays there are approximately 630 Steak n’ Shake restaurants located all over the United States of America, but also in Europe and the Middle East.
Steak n’ Shake restaurants are classy, with a relaxing atmosphere and a 1950s-style dining space. Their menu includes a wide variety of good food and beverages at reasonable prices.
You should be prepared to pay anywhere between $5 and $9 for a meal at Steak n’ Shake. These are served with French fries and a drink. Some of the options include the Single Steakburger with Cheese, the Double Steakburger with Cheese, the Philly Double Steakburger, the Bacon ‘n Cheese Double and the Sriracha Steakburger (Limited Time).
If you are going for the first time at Steak n’ Shake, you should definitely try their best sellers, the Cajun fries and garlic parmesan fries. Also, the milkshakes are the customers’ favorites.
