Taco Casa was founded by Rod Wilkin, who was a football player in Alabama, who had the dream to open his own Mexican restaurant in Tuscaloosa. So, the first Taco Casa location was opened in 1974 on 10th Avenue in Tuscaloosa. This fast-food chain was built with $2,500 inherited by the founder’s wife’s grandmother.
