Early Life and Career Beginnings

Travis Scott was born into a middle-class American family. His father had a small business – this after he had been a drummer in his youth, and his mother worked for a company in the phone sales department. Until the age of six, Scott grew up with his grandmother in the slums of a neighborhood in Hudson. Realizing that it was quite a dangerous environment for her grandson, the woman called his parents to get him and raise him away from that environment. Scott graduated from a private high school and because he had good grades, he was quickly admitted to the university. However, after only one year he dropped out of school to follow his great passion: music.

When the parents heard their son’s decision, they were terribly angry and withdrew all financial support. Hard years followed for today’s rap star who had to sleep on the floor, abandoned by everyone, just to follow his dream.

Music Career

After “Rodeo”, the rapper released the albums “Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight” and “Astroworld”.

“Astroworld” earned Scott even more Grammy nominations, including Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song for his collaboration with Drake, “Sicko Mode”. He was nominated eight times throughout his career.

On the same day of the Astroworld tragedy, Scott released two singles “Escape Plan” and “Mafia”.

The rapper revealed the source of his stage name during a 2018 appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” saying it’s a combination of his “two superheroes”: his uncle Travis and his favorite artist Kid Cudi, whose real name is Scott Mescudi.

How did Travis Scott get the reputation of organizing chaotic concerts?

Scott’s high-energy shows are synonymous with the terms mosh pits (those violent, jumping, and bumping dances that were once found at heavy metal concerts) and crown surfing (also at rock concerts, people used to be carried on the arms of the crowd). In a 2015 interview for GQ magazine, Scott compared his concerts to wrestling matches, saying, “I always wanted it to feel like a WWF (short for World Wide Fund, probably) kind of thing. You know, anger and fun and expressing good feelings is something I intend to do and spread around the globe.”

But sometimes anger can go too far. And the American media often found the rapper encouraging it. Scott has been arrested at least twice for incitement to riot and violent conduct during his concerts.

Personal Life

Such a personality on stage and a man with such success in the world of music, surely has a private life that arouses the interest of many.

For a long time, the tabloid headlines were held by the speculations related to the relationship of Travis Scott with the star of American pop culture, Kylie Jenner, one of the Kardashian sisters. Their relationship was never made official, but a year after they no longer avoided the eyes of the media, little Stormi appeared in the world, now four years old.

In 2019, there were rumors of a breakup, with Scott being accused of cheating on his girlfriend. The rapper clarified the situation in an Instagram post, a day after Jenner said they were both focusing on their friendship.

The couple, along with their daughter, hit the red carpet as a unit in June for the annual Parsons benefit in New York City. Three months later, Jenner announced that she and Scott were expecting their second child, also via an Instagram post.
