Privacy Policy for ThePricer Browser Extension

Effective Date: 11 May 2025

This section explains how we handle information collected through our browser extension available on the Chrome Web Store and Mozilla Firefox Add-ons Marketplace (collectively, the “Extension”).

By installing or using ThePricer Extension (“the Extension”), you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

ThePricer Extension does not collect, transmit, or store any personally identifiable information (PII) on our servers. All data is stored locally in your browser and never leaves your device unless you choose to export or share it.

We collect and store the following non-personal information locally to allow the Extension to function:

  • Your selected hourly wage
  • Your selected currency
  • Your configured savings goal name and goal amount
  • Optional warning thresholds you define (e.g., for caution or alert levels)
  • Your selected display mode

This information is stored only in your browser’s local storage and is not shared, transferred, or transmitted to any remote server.

2. No Data Collection or Tracking

ThePricer Extension:

  • Does not track your browsing history or collect behavioral data
  • Does not send any data to our servers or third parties
  • Does not access personally identifiable information
  • Does not inject third-party scripts or serve advertisements
  • Does not include analytics libraries

Your usage remains fully private and secure. We designed this tool to support your awareness, not to extract data.

3. Use of Local Storage

All user-defined settings (e.g., hourly wage, goals) are stored using Chrome and Firefox’s browser extension local storage API, meaning:

  1. The data is isolated to your browser
  2. It can be cleared anytime through the Extension’s settings or your browser’s extension data controls
  3. No data is accessible by external websites or external scripts

4. Permissions

ThePricer Extension requires the following permissions:

Storage permission to save your hourly wage and goal settings in your browser

These permissions are used strictly for the operation of the Extension’s time-cost conversion features. They are not used for tracking, advertising, or profiling.

5. Third Parties

The Extension does not interact with third-party services, APIs, or analytics providers. It does not serve ads, affiliate links, or collect data for marketing purposes.

If you use our website (ThePricer.org), please refer to our Website Privacy Policy for how we handle information there.

6. Children’s Privacy

ThePricer Extension is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal data from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Effective Date” at the top. Continued use of the Extension after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.

Mediavine Programmatic Advertising (Ver 1.1)

The Website works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising appearing on the Website. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. A cookie is a small text file which is sent to your computer or mobile device (referred to in this policy as a “device”) by the web server so that a website can remember some information about your browsing activity on the Website.

Each internet browser has functionality so that you can block both first and third-party cookies and clear your browser’s cache. The “help” feature of the menu bar on most browsers will tell you how to stop accepting new cookies, how to receive notification of new cookies, how to disable existing cookies and how to clear your browser’s cache. For more information about cookies and how to disable them, you can consult the information at All About Cookies.

Without cookies you may not be able to take full advantage of the Website content and features. Please note that rejecting cookies does not mean that you will no longer see ads when you visit our Site. In the event you opt-out, you will still see non-personalized advertisements on the Website.

The Website collects the following data using a cookie when serving personalized ads:

  • IP Address
  • Operating System type
  • Operating System version
  • Device Type
  • Language of the website
  • Web browser type
  • Email (in hashed form)

Mediavine Partners (companies listed below with whom Mediavine shares data) may also use this data to link to other end user information the partner has independently collected to deliver targeted advertisements. Mediavine Partners may also separately collect data about end users from other sources, such as advertising IDs or pixels, and link that data to data collected from Mediavine publishers in order to provide interest-based advertising across your online experience, including devices, browsers and apps. This data includes usage data, cookie information, device information, information about interactions between users and advertisements and websites, geolocation data, traffic data, and information about a visitor’s referral source to a particular website. Mediavine Partners may also create unique IDs to create audience segments, which are used to provide targeted advertising.

You may also visit Digital Advertising Alliance website and Network Advertising Initiative website to learn more information about interest-based advertising.
