How Much Does Banfield Wellness Plan Cost?

The Banfield Pet Hospitals, which can be found inside most PetSmart locations, offer the popular Banfield Wellness Plan, which is a unique pet healthcare solution. It can be almost fully customized for the needs of your pet.

You shouldn’t consider these types of plans an insurance policy. Instead, they should be seen more as affordable packages containing some of the most important and commonly recommended preventative care services that will help you spend less over the lifetime of your pet.

How Much Does Banfield Wellness Plan Cost?

The Banfield Wellness Plan will cost anywhere between $30 and $105, depending on factors like the plan you will purchase, as the company offers multiple types, the type of pet you need it for, its health, weight, age, and breed, and whether you want additional premium optional add-ons, but more about all of these, below.

When adding premium add-ons to the basic plan, expect increases of as much as $50 per month.

The easiest way to get a ballpark estimate and even get access to a discount code is to go to the official Banfield website and click on the “explore your custom plan” button. As soon as you create your account, you will also receive a discount code. You will then be asked to add the type of pet you have, its spay/neuter status, breed, weight, age, gender, whether it has bad breath or not, as well as its name and your zip code.

The hospital then uses this information to give you a ballpark estimate. This will be on the plan you need, as well as the additional options you choose, if any.

How does the Banfield plan work?

The Optimum wellness plans made by Banfield are meant to provide all kinds of preventative care. These include proper nutrition. dental care, diagnostics, and exams or vaccinations, among others. We will go over these all in the lines below.

Don’t see these plans as insurance policies, as they don’t include any treatment for situations that are considered unforeseen. This means that you will still need to get a proper insurance plan if you want to be prepared.

Plan holders still have access to discounted treatments outside of the plan. You will have to visit any Banfield hospital location to use any of the perks included in your plan.

  • A feature designed for breeds that need more cleanings annually, made of additional dental options;
  • If your pet hasn’t gotten a spay or neuter procedure yet, this can be added as an additional feature, allowing you to spread the cost of the procedure over several months and add it to the plan price;
  • There is a DNA testing option as well, but it is only available in Banfield locations. It will help you test for over 140 genetic disease mutations. It is able to detect more than 250 breeds, varieties, and types;
  • The parasite control feature will give you several options to protect the pet from harmful parasites like heartworms, ticks, and fleas.

Tips on the Pet Wellness Plan

After being billed initially, your plan will be renewed automatically every 12 months.

You will only be able to include the additional dental add-ons on a plan that already has dental cleaning features. The parasite add-ons will have limitations as well, usually based on the weight and age of your dog.
