Brand history

With a history of almost 50 years, Hungry Howie’s Pizza was founded in 1973 by James Hearn.  He decided to convert an old hamburger shop on Telegraph Road in Taylor, Michigan into the first Hungry Howie’s Pizza restaurant. In a short period of time, this pizzeria became a very popular hangout place for students at close Taylor Center High and Taylor Junior High Schools.

In 1982 James partnered with Steve Jackson, who delivered pizza for him. They decided to franchise their business and in 1983 the first Hungry Howie’s Pizza franchise was opened. This company franchised 65 restaurants in only three years. 160 locations were opened by 1990.

In 2005, Hungry Howie’s Pizza opened its 500^th location and now there are more than 575 franchises all over the United States of America.

Hungry Howie’s Pizza is well-known for its family, friendly atmosphere, and high hygiene standards. Also, they are famous for their larger variety of flavored pizza crusts including butter cheese, original, butter, Cajun, asiago cheese, sesame, garlic herb, ranch, and onion. And the greatest thing about it is that you can add your favorite flavored crust for free.

It is highly recommended to try their “The Works” pizza, which is made of onion, black olives, extra mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, green peppers, ham, Italian sausages, and ground beef. Also, you can add a garlic herb crust to make it even tastier.

But if you are not a pizza fan, that is fine because their menu also includes salads, calzones, Howie rolls, Howie breads, Howie wings, and various drinks.
