Brand history
Las Palapas was founded in 1981 by Ron Acosta in San Antonio, Texas. He opened a small restaurant with a walk-up and to-go window and sixty seats. Since then, the company grew to more than twenty locations across the Great State of Texas. Now you can find stores in the DFW area, Boerne, College Station, New Braunfels, and other areas.
In order to continue to offer stability and kinship to their employees, in 1991, the Las Palapas corporate locations started closing on Sundays. So, the employees had a day to spend with their family and friends.
In February 2020, Wayne Detmar took over the full ownership of Las Palapas. He was a franchise operator and owner ten years before that. Under this new management, the business moved into a new direction in regard to its commitment to the community, operations, and marketing.
For instance, they are supporting San Antonio Fiesta, the San Antonio stock show, and rodeo, Wreathacross America, The 100 Club, Christy’s Hope, The miracle league, and different other charitable activities.
