Brand History

Bahama Buck’s has a history of over 30 years. The first location was opened in 1990 by Blake Buchanan. At that time Buchanan was just trying to make some money to pay for his studies at Texas Tech University. He started his own small business with the help of the family and only one ice shaver.

Surprisingly, this little store was a success, and pretty soon Buchanan opened the first franchise in Lubbock, Texas. Bahama Buck’s philosophy is simple: fun, friendly service in a creative, tropical environment with top-quality products.

The majority of the locations are franchised, but they have to adhere to the policies of the franchising agreement and remain true to the original store, and so the “good vibes” reputation is ensured. You will feel like you have stepped onto your own private island retreat when you go to any of their stores.

Nowadays, the company has more than 100 locations across the United States of America in states such as New Mexico, Texas, Nevada, and Arizona, but also in Puerto Rico. There are plans to open more locations.

Buchanan and his family and friend Eric Lee are still involved in the business. They try to keep up with the customer requests and permanently update their menu while keeping the original flavors that made them so popular.

The design of all Bahama Buck’s locations is made so to keep the appearance of the original store: road signs and surfboards adorning the walls, brightly colored booths, and comfortable seating. As soon as you arrive in one of their locations you will just want to relax and enjoy the island life.

Bahama Buck’s brand is specialized in serving shaved ice, but they offer their own brand specialty cola, smoothies, coffee, and fruit cups as well. Moreover, their shaved ice can be served in different ways such as super sour, thin ice, and original. Also, you can opt for your “sno add ons”. As for the flavors you can choose between wedding cake flavor, banana colada, pina colada, mocha java, pink lemon sour, blueberry cheesecake, Jamaican punch, sugar cookie, and tiger’s blood.

One of the customers’ favorites is the tutti frutti, which is a great mix of flavors. Every item from their menu comes in different sizes such as avalanche, baby, large, regular, and small.
