Krispy Kreme is a coffee and doughnut chain with more than 1000 locations all over the world. This company is well known for its unique variety of coffees and doughnuts. The chain store has a rich history. In 1937 its first restaurant was opened in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and since then it has expanded in more than 26 countries across the world.

On July 13, 1937, Vernon Rudolph laid the foundations of the Krispy Kreme company. He was inspired to open the first store by his uncle who at the time was owning a grocery store where he was selling doughnuts. Even though at the beginning he was preparing doughnuts only for grocery stores, after a while he started to sell hot classic doughnuts while preparing them, from midnight till 4 am, to passersby for takeout.

From 1940 until 1950, the coffee and doughnut chain developed, step by step, the distinguishing characteristics that make it what it is today, such as the well-known Original Glaze doughnut, the glass display case, and the green and red bowtie logo. Krispy Kreme had become a well-established southeastern chain at the beginning of 1970, with around 60 stores.

In 1973, after Vernon passed away, Krispy Kreme became a subsidiary of Beatrice Foods. During the 1990s the company experienced a period of rapid expansion, with stores opening all around the United States. Tough, the company’s headquarters are still found in Winston-Salem.

The 2000s were extremely important for the international development of the company. The first store that was opened outside of the United States was in Toronto, Canada, in 2001. After ten years, in 2012, Krispy Kreme celebrated its fast international expansion by opening a location in Aguascalientes, Mexico, making it its 500^th international store.

During these years, the company also brought to the menu its signature variety of coffees and introduced the phone app Hot Light App, which helps clients find out when the doughnuts are the freshest and their availability at their local store.

One of the customer’s favorite doughnuts is the Original Glazed and this is not only because of the taste but due to its price as well. This is a very affordable snack as a piece costs around $1 (or around $9 a dozen). The price of other doughnuts such as the heart-shaped ones or limited-time offers is a little bit higher (around $1.50 a piece or $13 a dozen).

While the original glazed® doughnut is the most famous, Krispy Kreme also offers a variety of other flavors and types, using the same base dough but with different toppings and fillings.

Krispy Kreme, widely known for its delicious doughnuts, also offers a variety of coffee brews to complement its sweet offerings. Their coffee selection includes classic brewed coffee, espresso drinks, and iced coffees, catering to a range of coffee preferences. When the famous “hot doughnuts now” light is flashing and signaling that a new batch of fresh doughnuts has just come out the Krispy Kreme locations are getting pretty busy. Because of this, the clients have to wait too long and complain about the slow service. Also, they are not satisfied with how clean some locations are.

Besides the in-store sales, some locations offer the drive-thru service. However, some clients are complaining about the long waiting time, especially during peak hours. However, in general, customers are satisfied with the services and products offered by Krispy Kreme, saying that the doughnuts are sold almost always hot and freshly baked.
