BJ’s Restaurant & Brewery is an American restaurant chain with the headquarter in Huntington Beach, California. This is well-known for its microbreweries that supply beer to different areas in the chain of restaurants. The company operates under the names BJ’s Pizza & Grill, BJ’s Restaurant & Brewery, BJ’s Grill and BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse.

Brand History

The history of BJ’s Restaurant & Brewery starts back in 1978, in Santa Ana, California when Bill Cunningham and Mike Phillips open the first location called BJ’s Chicago Pizzeria. In 1991 these two founders sold the company to their accountants Jerry Hennessy and Paul Motenko.

Seven restaurants were opened in the San Diego and Los Angeles area by 1996. The company went public in 1996 and so its value was raised. The same year it purchased 26 Pietro’s Pizza restaurants but sold seven of these, planning to convert the rest of them into what was at that time BJ’s Pizza. Also, in 1996 BJ’s company opened a microbrewery at one of its restaurants.

BJ’s Restaurant & Brewery was rewarded by the National Retail Federation with the “One of the 10 fastest growing restaurants” award between 2010 and 2011. Also, some of the beers created by this company have been awarded gold and silver medals at different beer brewing contests from all over the world.

Nowadays BJ’s Restaurant & Brewery has more than 200 locations in 28 states in America such as Washington, Alabama, Virginia, Arizona, Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, California, South Carolina, Colorado, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Florida, Oregon, Indiana, Oklahoma, Kansas, Ohio, Kentucky, North Carolina, Louisiana, New York, Maryland, New Mexico, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Michigan, and Nevada.

During the sports days and peak hours, the atmosphere inside BJ’s Restaurant & Brewery may be a little bit busy. However, the seating and tables are well-arranged so you can watch your favorite sports game from any angle without problems.

There were some people who complained about the consistency of the food served at BJ’s Restaurant & Brewery. Sometimes the meals are over or under-seasoned. However, most of the customers find the food served here very tasty. One of the favorites is the Portobello Swiss Burger.
