The first Burgerville restaurant was opened in 1961, in Vancouver, Washington by George Propstra. Right from the beginning the company’s founder established partnerships with the local farms to ensure the freshness and quality of the ingredients used to prepare their products. The ingredients they use come from local farms and starting with 2004 they took the decision to sell only free-range beef, with absolutely no antibiotics and hormones. All Burgerville restaurants use only wind power energy and starting in 2007 they composted their waste, leading to a reduction of 85% of their waste footprint. Moreover, in 2009 they took the initiative to let the bicyclists use their drive-thru, a decision that their competitors didn’t take yet.
The company still provides tasty food even though they continued to commit to sustainability and health. Their great service and food were appreciated and rewarded, so in 2003 they won the Gourmet Magazine’s ‘Freshest Food in the Country’ Award and in 2007 the Food Network’s ‘Better Burger Award.
The interior design of all Burgerville restaurants respects the same classic theme with traditional diner table and chair set up, neon lighting, bright colors, and black and white floors. Dining in one of these restaurants will make you feel like you are in the 1950s. All of the restaurants are very clean and the staff is friendly and welcoming.
