Brand History
The history of Casey’s starts back in 1959 with Donald Lamberti, who leased a service station from his father in Des Moines, Iowa. He successfully remodeled it into a convenience store. After nine years of operation, his friend and gasoline supplier, Kurvin C. Fish, suggested Donald buy the Square Deal Oil Company, a service station in Boone, Iowa that was available for sale. Lambert listened to Fish’s advice and bought the station. He renamed it “Casey’s” after Kurvin Fish and converted it into a convenience store as well. Though, until 2020 the chain used the logo on the Boone store.

This new convenience store from Boone was pretty successful and this determined Lambert to open another store in Creston, Iowa. This new store also did well and Lamberti became more decided and ambitious to build a store in the small town of Waukee, Iowa. The store from Waukee proved to be the most profitable of the three. As a result, Lamberti took the decision to buy and open more convenience stores, focusing on towns with a population of fewer than 5,000 inhabitants.
In 1983, Casey’s company started to be publicly traded. Also, around that time the company started to sell doughnuts in its locations. They introduced pizza into their stores in December 1984.
Casey’s company dropped “General Stores” from its name in 2020 as part of its rebranding campaign. Also, they adopted a new logo.
Currently, there are more than 2,140 Casey’s stores that operate in 18 states, including Alabama, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Texas, Illinois, Tennessee, Indiana, South Dakota, Iowa, Oklahoma, Kansas, Ohio, Kentucky, North Dakota, Michigan, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Missouri.
