Brand history
Morton’s Steakhouse was founded in 1978 by Klaus Fritsch and Arnold J. Morton. They opened their first location in Newberry Plaza, in Downtown Chicago. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in November 2020 the original restaurant was closed.
Before becoming restaurant entrepreneurs and friends, Fritsch and Morton were colleagues. They both worked at the Playboy Club in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. At some point, the club changed its menu, and then Fritsch cooked a hamburger for Morton to try. He was impressed by the taste of this burger and said that has never eaten something so delicious.

Our review
Morton’s Steakhouse menu prices are a little bit higher than you would find at an ordinary restaurant but are worth it considering the taste and quality of the food and the irreproachable service.
Plan on spending $15 to $25 for an appetizer such as Tuna Tacos, Maine Lobster Cocktail, Broiled Sea Scallops, Jumbo Lump Crab Cake, and Shory Rib Steak Taco, to name a few. The soups and salads are priced at $13 to $18 and include options such as Baked Five Onion Soup, Bibb Lettuce Salad, Lobster Bisque, Caesar Salad, and others.
Be prepared to get $40 to $125 out of your pocket for one of the prime steaks and chops dishes. Also, the cost of one of their signature dishes starts at around $30 and goes up to more than $100. Some of these would include Alaskan King Crab Legs, Honey-Chili Glazed Salmon Fillet, Jumbo Cold Water Lobster Tail, and Braised Beef Short Rib.
As for the dessert, you will be able to choose between carrot Cake, New York Cheesecake, Chocolate Layer Cake, Morton’s Legendary Sundae, Key Lime Pie, and many more. One of these costs anywhere between $10 and $25.
For an unforgettable dining experience, some Morton’s restaurants host “Celebrity Servers” or “Lunch with Legend”, where clients can meet and dine with celebrities like Larry Fitzgerald, Jonathan Vilma, Jim Furyk, or Jack Nicklaus, and sports legends such as Dwyane Wade, Elgin Baylor, Bibby Hull, Tony Steward, Derrick Rose or Dick Vermeil.
