Upper Montclair Country Club Membership Cost

Upper Montclair Country Club

The Upper Montclair Country Club is a private club in New Jersey that was formed by members of the “Upper Ten”. They were given permission to build their own course on an unfinished 5-hole golf course located within sight-seeable distance from Manhattan where they could play at any time, even if it wasn’t open for public use yet.

The union of these two groups led to the creation, in 1901, of what would eventually become known as Upper Montclair Country Club. The original course included five holes but was expanded with four more through additions made in the 1920s and 1930s under AW Tillinghast supervision, who also designed 18 hole layouts for them around this time period too. Improvement projects continued into the 1950s when Robert Trent Jones supervised much-needed work being done on it including redesigning greens.
