As McDonald’s serves over 68 million people each and every day, there is no point in arguing that it is the biggest brand in the fast-food industry around the world. Over the years, the company has managed to grow substantially. They started with a very simple menu that only included a few hamburgers, orange juice, and potato chips. Nowadays you can find everything from desserts, breakfast items, wraps, salads, and a big number of burgers in every McDonald’s restaurant. The McDonald’s menu prices are also very accessible for the average American.
They started as a drive-in fast-food restaurant, but they slowly grew into an establishment that offers take-out and eat-in meals, along with their old drive-in model. The main reason behind their amazing growth was their proprietary “Speedee Service System”, which was also a big contributor to the development of the fast-food industry we now know and love. This system was put in place to decrease the overall cost of food and to increase the speed of service for consumers. Being the first brand to use this service, it placed McDonald’s high on the list of affordable and convenient options for eating out.

The History of The Company
The brand’s story began in 1940 when the two brothers Maurice and Richard McDonald thought about opening a barbeque restaurant in California. Right from the start, they noticed that among their most bought items were hamburgers, which, in 1948, made them convert the whole restaurant into a hamburger stand.
At about the same time, they also coined the “Speedee Service System”, which revolutionized the whole fast-food industry and made it into what it is today. Following its great success, the business started to offer franchising possibilities around the year 1953, and shortly after, the first location under the franchise was opened in Phoenix. The second franchise was opened around the same year in Downey, California. This is the place that to this day is known as the oldest operating McDonald’s in the U.S.
A historic change for McDonald’s happened in 1955 when the two brothers met Ray Kroc who almost immediately saw the big potential of the brand and their business model. Their collaboration lead to a lot of disagreements between the three, and soon after, Kroc bought the company completely from Richard and Maurice McDonald and started a global expansion. In 1953 the company trademarked the well-known golden arches. In 1958 a new version of the arches was made and trademarked.
Over the years, regardless of the difficulties they faced, the brand kept to their core values and even today continue to provide convenient, tasty, and affordable food. Their global expansion reached 119 countries up until now and they gain popularity and new clients each and every day.
McDonald’s restaurants have a very diversified menu for all types of individuals like hamburgers, french fries, chicken sandwiches, chicken burgers, soft drinks, cheeseburgers, smoothies, milkshakes, fish options, salads, wraps, desserts, fruits, and of course, their well-known and loved breakfasts. Among their breakfast items, you will find eggs, sausage, pancakes, orange juice, coffee, and more. juice. Not all locations have the same menu, and depending on the location of your preference, you will find specialty items like hash browns or variations of the beef patty.
All McDonald’s locations are family-friendly and have comfortable seating and eating areas. You can also hold children’s birthday parties in most locations. You will notice that their staff is almost always friendly regardless of whether you’re eating in or using the drive-through.
One of the most popular items on their menu is the Big Mac, which you should definitely try the next time you’re in a McDonald’s restaurant. For the more adventurous types, the Angus Chipotle BBQ Bacon Burger is a must-try, with its delicious flavor. What differentiates this fast-food chain from its competitors, is their inclination towards family and the very affordable prices on the menu. You will usually spend just under $5 for a meal that includes not only a burger but french fries and a soft drink as well.
Interesting Facts About McDonald’s
The Hot Dog was The First Item On Their Menu (Not The Big Mac)
It’s somewhat unexpected, especially since when people think of McDonald’s, they hardly ever think about hot dogs. As soon as they started to reel in more clients, they opened their first restaurant, hot dogs were ignored, and they moved towards the popular burgers.
