How Much Does a Saucon Valley Country Club Membership Cost?

The Saucon Valley Country Club is located one hour away from the north of Philadelphia, in the Lehigh Valley of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1920 by a group of sixteen Bethlehem Steel executives to be a family club and, over time, has hosted six United States Gold Association championships.

The club spans more than 800 acres and features a six-hole course, plus three 18-hole championship golf courses.

How Much Does a Saucon Valley Country Club Membership Cost?

Based on what we could find, the initiation fee for full membership at Saucon Valley is between $30,000 – $50,000, and the annual dues are between $11,500 – $15,000 ($958 – $1,250/month). Like with any other country club, the cost of a Saucon Valley Country Club membership is greatly affected by the type of membership you choose.

When it was founded, in the 1990s, the entrance fee for the Saucon Valley Country Club was $100, while the annual golf dues were $25 and the club dues were $50 per year.

Social

This type of membership is designed for members who are older than 65 years, regardless of how long she or he has been a member of the Saucon Valley Country Club.

Active

This membership is eligible for election and is intended for people who are older than 21 years old. Also, it is divided into two categories: the Regional, which is designed for those who live 30 to 50 miles within the club, and the Resident, which is for the active members who live within 30 miles of the club. Membership at this private club has a $50,000 initiation fee with annual dues of around $14,600.

International

This option is available for anyone who resides outside of North America.

Non-Resident

This membership option is intended for those who reside at a minimum of 50 to 130 miles from the Saucon Valley Country Club. Designed for non-local members and has an initiation fee of $15,001 to $30,000 and annual dues that stand between $4,001 – $8,000.

Recreation

This membership type is available for any person who is older than 21 years old. This option, for member-only, of the country club offers a wide range of privileges for dining, athletic, and social events.

National

Any person who lives more than 130 miles from the Saucon Valley Country Club may be eligible for this type of membership.

Junior

This membership option is designed for those who are between 21 and 34 years old.

Associate

This type of membership is designed for any active member who is a minimum of 70 years old and has been a member of the club for a minimum of 20 years; for any active member who is older than 75 years; for active military personnel; for a widower/widow or a clergyman.

Inside Saucon Valley Country ClubThe Saucon Valley Country Club offers three golf courses, including the Weyhill, Grace, and Old, that span over 850 acres. The club also offers its members an 18th-century guest house with 13 bedrooms, a six-hole short course, fine dining options, a fully stocked golf shop, a kids club, outdoor/indoor tennis courts, fly fishing, squash, a fitness center, and four swimming pools (wading, diving well, junior and lap).

Among the dining options that are included, you will find the Weyhill Clubhouse, the Grille Room, Villa Pazzetti, the Pine Room, the Field House, West Terrace, the Lime Kiln, and the Men’s Locker Lounge.

Moreover, the Saucon Valley Country Club holds all year-round exclusive culinary events, that include family-friendly activities, wine tastings, and cooking classes.

What are the additional expenses?

The country club offers a variety of lessons like pilates and fitness classes, clinics, teams, and a variety of social events and activities throughout the year including holiday celebrations. They also offer golf events and leagues for Golf and all four request sports, which come at an extra cost you need to consider.

Important things to consider

The Saucon Valley Country Club has a rich history in golf tournaments and includes the 2014 United States Mid-Amateur, the 2009 United States Women’s Open, the 2000 U.S. Senior Open, and the 2022 USGA Senior Open Championship.

All three courses, Weyhill, Grace, and Old, have been ranked many times in the “Top 10 Courses in Pennsylvania”.

Full golf members enjoy many privileges and amenities. Golfers can book tee times up to 7 days in advance, while other membership levels have more limited booking privileges. Complimentary locker room facilities, club cleaning/storage, and handicapping services are included. Members also have reciprocal play privileges at other exclusive private clubs. The two championship 18-hole golf courses at Saucon Valley are the Old Course and the Weyhill Course, both meticulously maintained to offer premium playing experiences.

This club has several dining options and offers the perfect setting for life’s special events such as engagement parties, retirement parties, weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries. Also, it is a great place for business events as it provides a large meeting space in a picturesque environment.

The club requires a strict dress code that members and guests must adhere to. For men, collared shirts and golf shorts or slacks are required attire on the golf course and in most dining areas. Women must wear appropriate golf attire such as collared shirts, slacks, skirts, or shorts of proper length when on the course. More formal attire including jackets for men is required in certain upscale dining rooms. Denim and cargo pants/shorts are prohibited on most areas of the club grounds.

The club has more than 1,100 members in its membership categories.

The average age of members is 60 years old, but many young families are joining the club.
