Brand History
The first Cracker Barrel restaurant was opened on September 19, 1969, in Lebanon, Texas, near the I-40 highway, which runs between Nashville and Knoxville. Dan Evins, the founder of Cracker Barrel was working in the gasoline business and had the idea to open a store where he could sell goods and country food for the people who were always on the road.
