Brand History
Firehouse Subs was founded in 1994 by the two brothers and firefighters, Chris and Robin Sorensen. Their first restaurant was located in Jacksonville, Florida. Chris and Robin come from a family of entrepreneurs who were also involved in the police and fire service. Before opening this restaurant, these two brothers operated some other businesses such as Christmas tree farming and real estate. However, Firehouse Subs is the one that made them famous. This restaurant expanded really fast all over the United States of America. In 2006 they had plans to expand mainly in the Southeast, Central, and Northeast areas of the United States. Currently, the restaurant’s headquarters are still located in Jacksonville, Florida.

For example, you can find at least one Firehouse Subs restaurant in Iowa, Georgia, Nebraska, Florida, Arkansas, South Carolina, Nevada, North Carolina, New Mexico, Virginia, Arizona, Maryland, California, New York, Oregon, Maine, Washington, New Hampshire, Montana, New Jersey, North Dakota, Massachusetts, South Dakota, West Virginia, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Ohio, Wisconsin, Missouri, Indiana, Texas, Illinois, Alabama, Michigan, Mississippi, Kansas, Tennessee, and Kentucky.
Over time Firehouse Subs has continued to grow. On October 25, 2015, they opened their first international location in Oshawa, Ontario Canada. This restaurant became the first international franchise chain that implemented and used the Coca-Cola Freestyle beverage dispenser in all of its locations. Also, their activity was recognized and awarded. For instance, in 2006 KPMG named Firehouse Subs the “Company of the Year”. Moreover, they are very involved in the community, so they won the “National Chain” of the National Restaurant Association’s Restaurant Neighbor Award.
This company wanted to offer support and funding for local firefighters, so in 2005, after the disaster caused by Hurricane Katrina, they founded a non-profit organization called Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, Inc. The founders of the company, Robin and Chris Sorenson, were very involved in this activity and they even went to Mississippi to help the first responders and survivors. This is what inspired them to create this foundation. But they donate millions of dollars to many other public safety organizations as well.
