The Caribou Coffee company was founded in 1992, in Edina, Minnesota by John Puckett and his wife Kim. They decided to raise money and build a coffee company after they had a trip to Denali National Park in Alaska.

The first location of the coffee shop should have been in the large Pillsbury Center office building, but the building’s landlord changed his mind and decided not to sign the lease with Puckett. The coffee beans used by Caribou Coffee are specially selected by the “Roastmaster” company from different exotic coffee fields.
